Where have all the olive trees gone?

Throughout most wars, war machinery doesn’t work just against people, but against land and nature, ecocide and genocide. There is no contradiction for this largely Eurocentric way of making war.  Think of the war by the colonizers against the Native people of the Americas, the land grab, the near genocide of the buffalo, the slash and burn of nature, not to mention the massacres, the rapes, the level of savagery by the colonizers, those undocumented usurpers. Whether it is occupation, theft and displacement, the dominant privileged usurpers scorch the land to scorch the people.  The brunt of the war on drugs that is the Afro Colombians and the Native Americans in Colombia is yet another example.  Displacement which results from war means land theft and it implies a diabolical project that is mentally deranged driving it.

To me, based on overwhelming evidence, what is happening in Palestine, specifically through the murderous actions by the Israeli government to maintain the blockade of Gaza, and the killing of 9 people in cold blood and at point blank range, that murder of those very same people who had the audacity to defend themselves from an illegal takeover of their ship in international waters, demonstrates the diabolical reality of how most governments generally and specifically, the Israeli government propped up by the US government use war as genocide of people and ecocide of the land.  The Israeli government has a mass psychosis problem, built on fear, one which props up their maintanence of an inhumane genocidal occupation of Palestinian land.  That is the depths of deranged violent genocidal and suicidal behavior.

And that the U.S. government, under it’s first African American president supports that with our tax money, is beyond comprehension. And that we as people living in the US, go along with it, holding a protest here or there?  Where is the resistance and non cooperation with evil?

Yes, yes, we can talk about geopolitics, democracy, etc, but by no stretch of the imagination can the occupation of Palestinian land, the murder of children throwing stones to defend their homes, their territory, the chokehold on an entire territory, be justified.  How can any one seriously think that the fascism of the Israeli government – bulldozing centuries-old olive trees, killing people who are taking aid to an impoverished isolated population in a huge outdoor prison, starving a whole people to death, leaving them in the rubble that same government created, be called democratic?

Palestine needs to be free, por las buenas o por las malas, as my Mami used to say in another context.

As always, a big part of the problem is the governments, the mass psychosis that seems to take over groups of individuals when they become part of the governing structure as they represent the basest, most reactionary and hateful aspects of our so-called enlightened civilization.

There are plenty of folks in the communities working on all sides to cooperate, to promote liberation through love and respect, built on justice.  Can we ever get governments to reflect what we want and who we are, or will they always be built on fear, hatred, distrust and itchy genocidal fingers?

When the leaders can’t lead, which is most of the time, they have to follow the people.  STAND UP!
