Some bounty of the Earth - peaches, beans, cilantro, tomatillo

As we celebrate Earth Day, it would be good to think clearly what this means for each of us.  While certainly a step, is recycling enough?  Why don’t we stop producing all the packaging in the first place so we won’t have to use what is not such a clean industry to redo the damage?

Celebrating community in the Bronx!

Given the little change we have seen in our government, particularly in relation to the cosmetic changes in the lifes of people on the Gulf Coast as a response to the neglect and racism of the aftermath and the lack of preparation for Katrina, and the British Petroleum human/environmental disaster, what does celebrating the Madre Tierra really mean?

Is it just another holiday with which U.S. capitalism sells more (green) goodies, or will we use this as an opportunity to really rethink our relationship con la Madre Tierra, from whom all our lives flow.

What are you doing?  Let me know and I will post your stories!

Enjoy celebrating La Madre Tierra/Mother Earth!
