the attempted displacement of our community garden

We worked with the water, the soil and the growing energy of the Boogie Down Bronx to produce this bounty, which the government of NYC, with our money and through their crooked agents, the Housing, Preservation and Development (HPD) department bulldozed. Apparently, the fact that the Bronx has one of the highest rates of asthma, low rates of green spaces, and little access to healthy organic food, doesn’t matter to them.  Neither do the rates of diabetes in our communities matter to them, nor does the lack of affordable housing, since they left this space abandoned for up to 40 years, which as you can see we worked with well.  They lie when they say that they are going to build affordable housing, their prospecting, and not to return our $ that they mismanage. Nothing builds resentment nor competition in a capitalist economy like food justice and community autonomy. The repression is intense, the censorship, the criminalization, otherwise, every one would want to do it, to take back the land, not for profit, but to nurture, to feed our people with healthy nutrition.  Then healthy, nutritious food wouldn’t be a commodity that lots of people cannot afford, then would it? Follow us on our blog, see how you can support in our fight to get back the land for our communities!
