This is the last big batch of the summer of 2012 as I often seem to pick the hottest days to make herbal medicina.  It is great to be in this cultural herbal tradition of  working with the earth, La Madre Tierra, with the herbs, oils, beeswax, heat alchemy to produce healing soothing natural support for the body and heart to make daily revolutions possible!

Plantain leaves (llantén, no del platano) are so powerful as they almost immediately turn the organic olive/sweet almond oil mix green and it gets greener as it draws out the medicine from the leaves.  Adding the potent lavender leaves to them in the mortar & pestel really helped break down the plantain leaves so the oil mix can saturate them and to draw out their herbal magic.  Then the beeswax disappears into it.  As I was pouring this concoction through the funnel into the containers, it jumped out, not once, but twice, scalding my fingers, pero, MIRA, MIRA, no hay burbuja de quemadura as the plantain healed and the lavender soothed.  There are always a few moments of holding my breath to see the clear mix begin to turn opaque as it cools.  Do I need to add more beeswax?  Va a cuajar?  Si, cuajó!  I then add lavender essential oil and a few drops of vitamin E oil to top it all off.

What a life of a community herbalist!  I love sharing what I make!

¡Que vida!

¡Que viva la VIDA!
