Really, what would REAL public assistance look like?  In a system not set up to profit off war on poor people of color, implemented by less poor people of color working it who are fearful themselves that they could trade places in a flash?

When really, it is entirely our money, this system would not be in place did we not provide for it.  What is the public in the public assistance, mediated by a distant, a government with little solidarity, that often does not seem to be bothered by its structural caste exclusions.

People fought hard for ideals of this system, the redistributive parts to provide a net to catch so many of us who fall through the leaky sieve of the capitalist free market.   Illegal firings, still catastrophic illnesses which no capitalist health care system can manage, attempted and actualized evictions from our homes, which we don’t own, from land we cannot often nurture.  And really, those structural violences get characterized as, take your pick, targeting particularly gendered people as individualized failings, really?

It is a blessing to get a compassionate worker, there are some, under these mounds of the terror of poverty and needs case loads, and the trauma to hearts, brains and bodies.  It is not surprizing at all how some people go off, in this system that shuffles you from office to office, from floor to floor, for yet another finger print.  And it is a blessing to make connections, to back up the resistance, to clarify together the insanity of this caste system which produces enforced racialized enpovertization.

Some meditations, and grateful? that some migajas come our way from time to time.

Happy New Year!
